🏨 ISVS-14 Officially Opens in Ho Chi Minh City | Connecting International Academic Dialogues on Vernacular Architecture

On the morning of December 18, 2025, ISVS-14 – the International Seminar on Vernacular Settlements officially opened at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH).The event was organized with the collaboration and support of the VDAS Design Association - HCMC Vietnam, marking the first time ISVS – a prestigious international academic forum on vernacular architecture – has been hosted in Vietnam.πŸŽ‰

The opening ceremony took place in a formal and welcoming atmosphere, featuring opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Le Van Canh, Vice President of HUTECH and Mr. Ho Tan Duong, President of VDAS. Their speeches emphasized the vital role of design and academic research in preserving, reinterpreting, and activating vernacular architectural values within contemporary contexts.🏨

The plenary session brought together distinguished international and Vietnamese speakers, including Prof. Ranjith Dayaratne, M.Arch. Nguyen Thu Phong, Architect Nripal Adhikary, and Assoc. Alongside the academic sessions, ISVS-14 also featured a Student Research Exhibition and an Award Ceremony recognizing outstanding projects. These activities highlighted creative approaches with strong research depth, connecting vernacular heritage with contemporary design practice.
